CAPR: Using iMIS to Improve Experience – for Clients and Staff
The Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR) is a not-for-profit organization that provides standardized entry-to-practice assessment on behalf of the Canadian physiotherapy regulators.
CAPR:
- reviews the education credentials of individuals educated outside of Canada to determine whether their training is substantially different from Canadian-educated physiotherapists.
- administers the Written Component of the Physiotherapy Competency Examination (PCE) to determine an individual’s readiness for safe, effective, physiotherapy practice.
CAPR uses iMIS to track thousands of individuals who are applying for assessment of education credentials or taking the examination, as well as the corresponding universities around the world that provide physiotherapy education.
As part of the application process, clients must provide significant supporting documentation (degrees, transcripts, clinical practice information, identification) for assessment. Since moving to iMIS in 2020, CAPR has made vast improvements in efficiency and turnaround time for processing an ever-increasing number of applications. All documents are scanned and tracked in iMIS against the client’s application. In the past year, CAPR received 29,683 documents alone. By using iMIS, CAPR staff can quickly and easily retrieve previous documents to compare against newly received documents from that organization to look for fraud or other inconsistencies. In addition, CAPR has been able to securely and efficiently send examination results to candidates, saving time and mailing costs.
In Fall 2023, CAPR launched a client portal where clients can apply for credentialling and the exam online, upload required documents, make payments, and track their application status in real-time, all driven by iMIS RiSE. Since the launch of the client portal, CAPR has received 2,010 credentialling applications and 3,486 exam applications. CAPR has leveraged iMIS to automate routine data entry tasks, client communication, and reminders. iMIS has made it possible for CAPR to seamlessly expand the number of digital documents they accept. It has helped to remove barriers for clients by allowing them to upload documents as opposed to having to print copies and mail them to CAPR – something that had previously caused significant delays for clients.
The ongoing development of iMIS remains a priority for CAPR. “We continue to grow and expand iMIS to best serve the needs of our organization. We leverage Rise, Intelligent Query Architect, Process Automation, and Form Builder to improve client and staff experience,” Monique Porlier, Chief Operating Officer.
“In addition to creating efficiencies for our clients and staff, iMIS has become a shared organizational resource. iMIS dashboards provide key relevant statistics and trends that enable us to plan, monitor, and allocate resources effectively.” Brandi Park, National Director, Evaluation Services.
